My big blessing

Most who read this site know that I had a baby when I was 17 years old. I gave her up for adoption when she was a couple days old and since it was an open adoption I was able to receive pictures of her for the first few years of her life. For years I received no contact from her adoptive parents about her but I continued to pray for her and for them. When she was 14 I got a letter and a picture of her and then had not heard anything more over this past 4 years. She just turned 18 and many of you have joined me in prayer as I begged the Lord to work in her life and the life of her family. I have been praying that she would have a desire to contact me once 18 and as can be expected God answered my prayer. Last week she sent me an email! We have been emailing back and forth since that first email and I am learning little bits and pieces about her life and she is learning about mine. Katie is a beautiful young woman now, This picture was taken last summer. She will be graduating from High School in June. Please keep her and I in your prayers as we develop a unique relationship as birthmother and birthdaughter. If we are extra blessed maybe she'll comment on this blog for us.

Linda, you know how I feel! But I'll say it again - I am SOOO excited for both of you. I can't believe I have lost sleep over the excitement! I pray that we can get to know her and her family someday too! Maybe she has some wisdom for me as an adoptive parent!

Sorry about the deleted comment. It said the same thing, but I was trying to get my picture on there and couldn't figure out how to edit.

I am so excited too. When I held her that day so long ago, I was hoping that someday we'd see her again. I am so thankful that Katie has wonderful Christian parents. It's so great to know that she had two families praying for her as she grew up. I think she is an amazing young lady. It was always easy for me to remember her birthday too, because she's 6 months and one day older than our first granddaughter, Stephanie. I think it would be the greatest thing in the world if we could see her comments on here. No I think that would be super cool. What would be the coolest thing in the world is if I ever got to meet her again.

I do not understand these blogs and how to make them work the way you want to. I wanted it to say Aunt Karen, but the last post said Karen Sullivan. So now I've started a new account. I don't have any idea how to get my picture on it though. Anyway, my new comment is that I was so excited about your hearing from Katie that I got a little carried away with my previous post. I am really just content at this point to know that you are in contact with Katie and that she's a lovely Christian young lady.
