Fences, farriers and the runs

Here is the latest since my last post here.
The farrier came and to say the least, it was an interesting experience! One horse got trimmed and it took a very long time. I told her I'd call her back if I needed her to do the rest of them ; ).

Kayla is doing better as far as the ear infection is concerned, however she is now dealing with side affects from the antibiotics. This has required both Greg and I to spend lots of time comforting her and cleaning up messes because the diapers just can't keep up! Lots of baths, carpet cleaning and even a complete take apart and cleaning of her carseat. I am staying home from church with Kayla this morning and we'll see how today goes before deciding if we can go to tonights service.

For the most part we have finished the fence at the horse pasture so that while the new house comes in the animals will have a place to be. It is probably a little over 1/2 acre so there will be room for them to move around and we have locked them out of it now in hopes that the grass will grow more to give them a little more pasture for the few days they'll have to be confined to that part of the pasture. Its raining today, so hopefully that will be lots of help to our pasture. Also rain is good for our foundation pad so it will be packed as hard as possible for our house.

Our current house is another issue and needs lots of attention. Maybe since I have to stay home today I can catch up on dishes and laundry. I am also figuring it will be a good day to get off my feet as much as possible since they are suffering from the effects of pregnancy.

Anyways hope all is well with all of you. Enjoy this day that our Lord has made!

Sorry about the farrier. That was my experience with a woman farrier too. Then my horse realized she wasn't all that strong and kept pulling his foot from her and she couldn't keep ahold of it. Hope you can find a great farrier soon. Sorry about Kayla too :( Poor thing. I can't believe how close you are getting to having your new little guy! I can't wait to see him. So much exciting things going on lately!

Oh, I just remembered another thing about that woman farrier I had.. I actually had to hold my horse's hoof for her while she nailed on a shoe. I was so scared!! But, my horse didn't pull his hoof from me.

Amy,
Its almost as if you were there with me experiencing this woman farrier. Nothing against women but I just haven't yet met a good female farrier. Holliday is so good but he kept putting his foot down and she JUST let him! I can't even imagine her trying to put shoes on a horse : )
