half way through pregnancy!

Yesterday was a very eventful day for our family. Sunday School, Church, livestock handling, cooking chili, bible study, church, chili cookoff etc. etc. Linda sang a solo for the morning service, The song was about abortion since last week was the 35th anniversary of the Roe Vs. Wade decision that made abortion legal in our country. Greg had to cook Chili for the mens chili cookoff in the afternoon and Linda made side dishes to take including corn on the cob which became a huge hit with Kayla. We didn't think Kayla would let us take the cob away from her. She finished one and we had to replace the cob with a fresh one and she finished that quickly and the only way we could get the cob away was to offer chocolate dessert cake. Greg won the championship in the chili cookoff! His chili was very good too! In between all this activity we fed horses and wormed the calf and planned our new horse shelter location that we hope to put up next week. So yesterday was eventful and busy and definitely fun. Today marks the halfway point of the pregnancy! Yep we are now 20 weeks along. Hopefully we'll have an ultrasound soon so we can hopefully start choosing names for our new family member.

Good test results Yay!

We got the results from the triple scan yesterday. Everything was normal which means that there were no chromosome abnormalities detected in the baby, Yay! So the plan is to schedule an ultrasound when I have my next scheduled appt. which is Feb. 6th. I don't think it will take long to get in for ultrasound once I schedule it. The biggest thing is finding a babysitter for Kayla. So thanks to all for your prayers. God has really blessed us.

TV pose

Kayla was watching Kipper the dog on TV and apparently made herself a little bed so she could watch in comfort.

Nice weekend away from home

Greg, Kayla and I enjoyed a weekend in Austin while Greg attended a CEU course for his work. We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express and while Greg was in class Kayla and I shopped and hung out in the room. We all had a really nice time. Greg seemed to really enjoy the class and we all enjoyed the hotel breakfast. Our room was nice and worked out perfectly for Kayla to run and play in. We got home late last night and now we're all tired. Greg is probably the only one with an excuse for being tired and I'm sure when he gets home from work he'll be ready for some good rest. Kayla is taking a long nap today and I'm trying to motivate myself to clean house instead of taking a nap myself. The only downside of the weekend was that I had a tooth chip off and we don't have dental insurance for another month or so. I was hoping to wait to see the dentist until insurance kicked in but even though I'm not in pain I know I better get to the dentist.

still waiting for triple scan results

I called the Dr. office this morning to see if the results were in from the triple scan test that was performed last monday. They had no results yet. They told me that it was likely they would come in on Wednessday so I'll check back on thursday. When I was pregnant with Kara they never called me with results which delayed all the other necessary tests since that pregnancy the triple scan showed positive results because of Kara's turner syndrome. Because of the delay the high definition ultrasound was also delayed by a few weeks and by the time we had it done she was in heart failure and we had very little time left before she was stillborn. When I was pregnant with Kayla they once again didn't call me with results. I finally called them and they looked and told me that the results were normal and that they had known the results for quite some time. They seemed to think I should have been informed but I hadn't. So, this time I'm not waiting on them anymore. I want to know ASAP. I don't expect anything but normal results but if there is a problem I want to know soon so we can make arrangements for further testing. I'll update when I know the results.

18 weeks the baby can hear now

This morning I had a pregnancy well checkup with all the bells and whistles of what women have to go through. I was thankful that Kaylas Grandma Euner came to watch her so I didn't have to take her to my appt. Heartbeat sounded great. Baby is moving and I am feeling it now. At this age the baby can hear well enough to be startled at loud noises and comforted by my steady heartbeat. The Dr. does think that I have an ovarian cyst but is not too concerned about it at this point. Our good news of the week is that Greg's work has finally gotten insurance so as of Feb. 1st we will be insured. Hopefully it will not consider the pregnancy pre existing. I had blood drawn for the triple scan on monday so when we get the results from that test the decision will be made about my ultrasound. If the triple screen is normal I will have a routine ultrasound in 3-4 weeks but if the triple screen is positive for anything I'll have to travel out of town for a high definition ultrasound that can look for abnormalities.
Kayla has learned how to open the front door now so I must be on top of her every move until I can get some doorknob covers. Greg has a training in Austin this weekend so Kayla and I will go with him and while he is in class I hope to buy more babyproofing devices.
I need to stay active with the camera so I can add more pictures but I just haven't taken many pictures lately. I'll work on that for my next post.

Happy New Year

We are finally organized enough to update this blog. Here are some pictures of Kayla with some of her Christmas presents. More pictures to come. She got a bouncy horse from her Grandma Johnson and as you can see she thinks its quite fun
This is her first John Deere tractor! Just like Daddy's (well almost)
We gave her this gift to open and she thought she needed a platform to sit on so she chose this under the bed Christmas decoration storage box. She loves opening presents!

I still have more pictures to post but it is late and I'll have to do that later. We wish each and everyone of you a great year.
